James “Tank” Nickle ran two ancient games, featuring Romans and Carthaginians, using the under-development Bear Yourselves Valiantly: Look, Sarge, No Charts: Fantasy, Ancients, and Mediaeval<\/em> rules. \u00a0Both were hugely successful.<\/p>\n

Elephants! \u00a0Tank made up some interesting rules about elephants going on a rampage that we’ll incorporate into the rules.<\/p>\n

Most of the development is done. \u00a0We just have a few odds and ends to address. \u00a0I hope to begin writing the first draft around Christmas. \u00a0The process of writing, editing, photography, and layout usually takes me about four months. \u00a0Then off to the printer. \u00a0We hope to release them in time for Historicon 2014.<\/p>\n

People have told us that these rules are the most fun they’ve ever had playing ancients games. \u00a0While the rules have a point system that is used to help figure out how many units a player should control, it is not meant to be a bullet-proof system for tournament play. \u00a0These rules are meant for scenario play.<\/p>\n

I really like the look of the table with these rules. \u00a0Each Roman base represents a maniple. \u00a0The table looks like how I envision an ancient Roman battlefield might look.<\/p>\n
